Since 8 bit computers era, I was always fascinated by the possibility of using software to create graphics based on a series of rules / conditions. I decided to try something I wanted to do for a long while - use Substance Designer to design patterns for commercial use. It is bit different from what I usually do so it was a very good exercise and a valuable lesson.
I focused on using very simple geometric shapes and making sure that all patterns have nice color schemes.
Most of those patterns look exactly how I imagined them but a few others were the result of many experiments and "happy accidents".
And this is what I love about SD the most - I sit down with a clear picture in my head of what I want to make but during the creation process, I sometimes go "down the rabbit hole" and I end up with something that looks cool but nothing like my original idea.
To me this the most exciting part of the creation process in SD - every project is like a journey that you never know where it will take you :)
